Artist bio 

 

Crystal Witmore is a photographer based in Monroe, North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from East Carolina University and brings over a decade of experience as a photo editor, along with extensive knowledge as a custom framer.

 

Witmore’s work explores colorful, abstract interpretations of everyday environments, challenging viewers to reconsider familiar spaces. Drawn to places rich in visual energy and cultural layering, she frequently revisits the iconic roadside attraction South of the Border in Dillon, South Carolina—a subject she has explored for over 20 years. Through her lens, Witmore isolates unexpected details and perspectives, transforming a widely recognized destination into something newly complex and thought-provoking.

 

Her work invites viewers to slow down, shift their perception, and engage with the ordinary in unfamiliar ways.
